Zoë Kate Hinde Heller, born on July 7, 1965, is an English journalist and writer. She has lived in New York City for a long time. Zoë Heller has written three novels. These include Everything You Know (1999), Notes on a Scandal (2003), and The Believers (2008). Her book Notes on a Scandal was nominated for the famous Booker Prize. It was also made into a movie in 2006.

Zoë Heller was born in St Pancras, a part of north London, England. She was the youngest of four children. Her parents were Caroline Carter and Lukas Heller. Her father was a successful writer for movies. Zoë's parents separated when she was five years old.
Her father was a German Jewish immigrant. Her mother was English and a Quaker. Zoë's grandfather on her father's side was Hermann Heller. He was a well-known thinker about politics. Her brother, Bruno Heller, also writes for movies and TV.
Zoë went to Haverstock School in north London. After that, she studied English at St Anne's College, Oxford. She earned a top degree there. Later, she went to Columbia University in New York. She earned a Master of Arts degree.
Her Writing Career
Zoë Heller first worked at a UK publishing company called Chatto. She also reviewed books on her own for a while. Then, she became a writer for The Independent on Sunday newspaper.
In the early 1990s, she moved back to New York. She started writing for Vanity Fair magazine. She also wrote for The New Yorker magazine. She had a weekly column in The Sunday Times Magazine in the UK. She was also a writer for The Daily Telegraph. In 2002, she won the "Columnist of the Year" award. This was from the British Press Awards. Zoë Heller also helped write the movie script for Twenty-One (1991).
