History
Zoar has a simple but interesting history. A church was built in Zoar in 1871. Later, a schoolhouse was added in 1897.
A post office opened in Zoar in 1900. It helped people send and receive mail for seven years. The post office closed down in 1907. It is thought that the community was named after another place called Zoar, Ohio.
