What is Zoids: Genesis About?
Just like Zoids: Fuzors, Zoids: Genesis takes place on Planet Zi. However, it tells a completely new story. The world in Genesis is a bit like a post-apocalyptic setting. This means a big disaster, called "Gods' Fury," destroyed much of the planet.
Many survivors of "Gods' Fury" built new homes. They used huge structures called "Generators" found across the planet. Even after the disaster, Zoids technology still existed. People would dig up these giant robot machines to use them. The show brings back the adventurous and war-themed style of older Zoids series. It focuses on Ruuji, who lives in a small village by the sea. He becomes the pilot of the Murasame Liger after finding it in the ocean.
The Story of Zoids: Genesis
Long ago on Planet Zi, Zoids were used in a huge war. This war caused a terrible disaster that almost destroyed the world. The planet became very hard for people and nature to live on. This event was called "Gods' Fury." Many people believed it was a punishment for humanity's mistakes.
Some people survived by riding on giant Zoids called Gildragons. One group returned to the land and built Iron Rock City. Another group built a city that floated in the sky, called Sky City. The people of Sky City rebuilt their lives. They also started researching ways to fix the planet. They planned to use their advanced technology to restore the world. But over time, they became too comfortable in their floating city. They no longer wanted to return to the land.
How Generators Work
Even though the Sky City people didn't return, they shared their technology. This technology created what locals call "generators." These generators are special. They create energy and help machines and living things grow in the area around them.
Later, Sky City started running out of energy. They sent secret agents to Planet Zi. Some agents watched how the people on the ground were doing. Others made special deals with certain groups. Sky City made a deal with a city called Digu. They traded advanced technology for a special energy source called Reggel. As part of this deal, a person from Sky City named Jiin was adopted by Digu's King. Digu then used this technology to build a powerful army, the Digald Army.
The Rise of the Digald Army
The Digald Army started making many special Zoids called Bio-Zoids. These Bio-Zoids were almost impossible to destroy in battle. Their only weakness was weapons made of a special material called Zi-alloy.
The Bio-Zoids quickly conquered nearby villages and cities. They needed the generators in these places for more energy. Digald also used special stones to find people who could pilot Bio-Zoids. These people were forced to join the Digald Army. They often never saw their families again. People were scared of Digald. Their own Zoids couldn't stand up to the strong Bio-Zoids. Without generators, their homes couldn't survive. So, people either gave up or were destroyed.
Ruuji's Adventure Begins
The story of Zoids: Genesis really starts when Lord Ra-Kan and Princess Mii are traveling. Their kingdom, Kira, had fallen to Digald. Young Ruuji Familon was working with his father. They were recovering Zoids from the ocean floor in their village, Miroodo.
A top Digald commander, Major Zairin, found out Miroodo had a small generator. His troops attacked the village. Ruuji had never been able to activate a Zoid before. But the situation was desperate. He jumped into the Murasame Liger, a Zoid they had just found. This Zoid had a Zi-alloy katana, a special sword. The Murasame Liger responded to Ruuji's call and helped him fight the Bio-Raptors.
Ra-Kan and Mii joined Ruuji in fighting Digald. During a battle, Miroodo's generator was accidentally damaged. This meant the village was in danger of being destroyed. Ra-Kan agreed to help Ruuji find a generator mechanic.
New Friends and Challenges
On his journey, Ruuji made many friends. These included Kotona, a skilled assassin; Garaga, a former rebel leader; Ron, a spy from Sky City; and Seijuurou, a former Zoid champion who became Ruuji's teacher. Ruuji also discovered that his Murasame Liger could "evolt." This means it could change into different combat forms, like the super-fast Hayate Liger. This ability was very important for their survival.
Ruuji couldn't find anyone to fix the generator. But his travels made him realize something important. Even if the generator was fixed, Digald would eventually conquer everything. Ruuji suggested to Ra-Kan that they should fight back. Ra-Kan agreed that Digald's expansion had to stop.
With help from the rebuilt Kira kingdom, Ra-Kan started an army. They invited many resistance groups to join. At first, many were too scared to fight Digald. But as the "Digald Suppression Army" won more battles, their reputation grew. More and more groups joined them.
The Truth About Sky City
Ron, the spy, was worried about Jiin's actions. He secretly used his resources to help Ruuji and Ra-Kan. Eventually, the team visited Sky City. They hoped to convince the Sky City council to help them. The council refused, thinking Jiin wasn't a real threat.
But they were wrong. Jiin betrayed Sky City. He launched an attack with Bio-Raptor Guis, destroying the floating city. Many citizens survived and found safety in Zuuri. They struggled to adapt to a simpler life. The Sky City elders then revealed their original plan. They wanted Jiin to take over Digald. This would give them a powerful army on Earth and a steady supply of Reggel. But Jiin's ambition was too great. Their overconfidence in controlling him led to their downfall. With Sky City gone, only the resistance forces were left to oppose Jiin.
The Final Battle
Jiin's power grew in Digu. After the king died, Jiin declared himself emperor and even a god. His new rules were very strict. Many of his officers didn't like them. But Jiin didn't care. He was turning people into Bio-Zoid droid pilots. This allowed him to triple his forces without needing human pilots.
Zairin, a Digald commander, was obsessed with defeating Ruuji. But when he learned the truth about the droid pilots, he was shocked. He realized what Jiin was doing and joined the anti-Digald army. As word spread, many other Digald forces also joined the resistance.
After many tough battles, the anti-Digald army grew stronger. Ruuji renamed them the "Jiin Suppression Army." A huge final battle took place against Jiin in his Bio-Tyranno. It was a very difficult fight. But Ruuji, using his Mugen Liger (an evolt form of Hayate Liger), finally defeated Jiin. This brought peace back to the land.
After the battle, they discovered something amazing. The Murasame Liger had special regeneration technology. This could help fix Miroodo's generator! Ruuji returned to his village and helped bring life back to his hometown.

Zoids in Genesis
Even after the big disaster, Zoids are still used across Planet Zi. A key difference in this series is the use of a substance called Regel. This orange, sap-like fluid comes from tree-like generators. Zoids need Regel to work. It might be used for maintenance, like oil, or to keep Zoids from going too far from human control.
Hero Zoids
The seven Zoids used by the main heroes have special metal Zi weapons. These weapons can break through Digald armor. Because the heroes have fewer Zoids, they sometimes get overwhelmed by larger enemy forces. The seven hero Zoids are:
- Murasame Liger: Ruuji's Liger-type Zoid.
- Sword Wolf: Ra-Kan's wolf-type Zoid.
- Lance Stag: Rei Mii's moose-type Zoid.
- Rainbow Jerk: A peafowl-type flying Zoid piloted by Kotona Elegance.
- Deadly Kong: A large gorilla-type Zoid piloted by Garaga.
- Bambu Lion: A panda-type Zoid piloted by Ron.
- Soul Tiger: A fast, white Zoid with red energy lines. It has four large claws on each paw. Piloted by Seijuurou.
Digald Zoids
The Digald nation has been taking over many areas on Planet Zi. They force people from conquered cities to work or pilot Zoids. Their success comes from a silver plating on their Zoids. This plating is immune to beam weapons. However, it melts and disappears when it touches very hot things or weapons made of metal Zi. When it melts, the Zoid's inside structure falls apart, leaving only white skeletons.
Zoids piloted by high-ranking officers sometimes have gold claws or spikes. These can block metal Zi weapons, but they are rare. The pilots of these Zoids sit in dark cockpits. They wear bulky suits with wires to control their Zoids. Many of these pilots are actually human minds trapped in robot bodies. Later, some commander-type Bio-Zoids have crystal armor. This armor is completely resistant to Metal Zi weapons.
