How Zona Rosa Started
This area was first planned in 1946. Its design was inspired by the "Garden City" idea from Europe and North America. This meant creating a nice place with lots of green spaces and good planning.
In the early 1980s, the area started to change. Many houses on Boulevard del Hipódromo became restaurants and bars. Since then, this part of San Salvador has been known as the Zona Rosa, which means "Pink Zone."
Modernizing the Area
In 2010, work began to make Zona Rosa even better and more modern. They built a central flower bed connecting two traffic circles, Italia and Brasilia. They also planted palm trees and added bright LED lights.
New access ramps were built for people with disabilities. Public squares were updated, and surveillance cameras and police points were added for safety. This big update helped Zona Rosa get special recognition. It was called the first "Special Improvement District in Central America."
Where to Stay: Hotels
Zona Rosa has many hotels, both local and international. Some of these include Villa Serena, Villa Florencia, Hotel Las Magnolias, Sheraton Presidente, and Hilton Princess. These hotels offer comfortable places for visitors to stay.

Zona Rosa is home to two of El Salvador's most important museums. These are the National Museum of Anthropology Dr. David J. Guzmán and the Art Museum of El Salvador. They are great places to learn about the country's history, culture, and art.
Monument to the Revolution
