Åke Helge Ortmark (born May 14, 1929 – died October 18, 2018) was a well-known Swedish journalist, writer, and TV and radio host. He had a very long career working in both television and radio. He also wrote several books.

About Åke Ortmark
Early Life and Education
Åke Ortmark was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He grew up in an area called Ålsten.
In the early 1950s, he went to the University of California in the United States. There he studied economics. Later, in 1954, he earned a master's degree in Business and Economics from the Handelshögskolan in Stockholm.
His Career in Media
Ortmark started his career in 1958 at Sveriges Radio, which is Sweden's national public radio company. For a while, he was a news anchor for a show called Aktuellt on Sveriges Television (Swedish Television).
"Hard-Hitting Journalism"
In 1962, Åke Ortmark and Herbert Söderström started a new way of interviewing. It was called "Skjutjärnsjournalistik" in Swedish, which means "hard-hitting journalism." This style involved asking tough questions to get clear answers.
He became very famous for this style as part of a group called "De tre O:na" (The Three O's). This group included Ortmark, Lars Orup, and Gustaf Olivecrona. In 1966, they used this technique in a live TV interview with the Prime Minister, Tage Erlander.
Later Career and Awards
From 1974 to 1976, Ortmark worked as the editor-in-chief for the weekly newspaper Veckans Affärer. In 1997, he started his own interview show on TV8 called O som i Ortmark. He hosted this show until 2006, when he moved to work for Axess TV.
In 2005, Ortmark received a special award called the Kristallen (The Crystal). This award honored his great work in television and his dedication to news and important discussions.
On June 25, 2006, Ortmark shared stories about his life and career on the popular radio program Sommar i P1. In 2008, he became a member of the council for Humanisterna, a humanist organization.
In 2013, Ortmark published his life story, called Makten och lögnen – ett liv i televisionens Sverige. This book shared details about his long career in journalism.
Personal Life
Åke Ortmark married Sinikka Tenhunen in 1961. After their divorce, he married Annika Roth in 1974. Ortmark was a father to three children.
He was also very skilled in martial arts, holding a black belt in karate.
Åke Ortmark passed away on October 18, 2018, at the age of 89, after a short illness.
