Åsa Larsson is a famous Swedish writer. She is best known for her exciting crime novels. These books feature a character named Rebecka Martinsson. Her stories have even been made into a popular TV series. One of her books also became a Swedish film called Solstorm.
Early Life and Background
Åsa Elena Larsson was born in Uppsala, Sweden. She grew up in Kiruna, a town in the very north of Sweden. Her grandfather was Erik August Larsson, a famous Olympic skier.
Before she became a full-time writer, Åsa Larsson worked as a tax lawyer. This experience helped her create her main character, Rebecka Martinsson, who is also a tax lawyer.
Writing Exciting Crime Novels
Åsa Larsson has written a series of popular crime novels. All of these books feature the brave heroine Rebecka Martinsson.
Her first novel, Solstorm, was a big success. It won an award for the best first novel from the Swedish Crime Writers' Academy. When it was published in the UK, it was called The Savage Altar. This book was also nominated for another important award, the Duncan Lawrie International Dagger.
Her second novel, Det blod som spillts, also won the award for the Best Swedish Crime Novel Award.
Later, her fifth novel, Till offer åt Molok, received the same award. The sixth and final book in the series, Fädernas misgärningar, was released in 2021. It also won the prize for the Best Swedish Crime Novel of the year.

Many people enjoy Åsa Larsson's stories. Her books and characters have been turned into a Swedish TV series. This show is called Rebecka Martinsson.
