Özhan Canaydın (born January 23, 1943 – died March 22, 2010) was a well-known Turkish businessman and a former basketball player. He is most famous for being the president of Galatasaray, a very popular sports club in Turkey.

Özhan Canaydın was born in Bursa, Turkey, on January 23, 1943. He became a successful businessman and was also a talented basketball player in his younger years. Later, he took on a very important role as the president of the famous Galatasaray sports club.
His Early Life and Sports Career
Özhan Canaydın started playing professional basketball in 1958. He joined the Galatasaray organization in 1957, becoming its youngest member at the time.
He was part of the Turkish national youth team that won the European Youth Championship in 1962. Canaydın also played for the Galatasaray basketball team that won the Turkish Championship. He was a member of Galatasaray's cadet, junior, and senior basketball teams. He stopped playing basketball in 1964.

In 1963, Canaydın began his business career in the textile industry, following in his father's footsteps.
He was elected as the President of Galatasaray in 2002. After becoming president, he handed over his business responsibilities to professional managers. Canaydın had also served Galatasaray before, as a board member under previous presidents like Ali Tanrıyar, Alp Yalman, and the well-known Faruk Süren.
He was re-elected as chairman of Galatasaray on March 25, 2006. However, he stepped down from his role in 2008 because of health problems. He also served as the president of the Super League Clubs Union, but he resigned from that position in 2008 due to his health.

Özhan Canaydın graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1963. He married Asuman Canaydın in 1965. They had two children and four grandchildren. His son, Murat Canaydın, also graduated from Galatasaray High School and now manages the family business.
His Legacy
Özhan Canaydın passed away on March 22, 2010, at the age of 67. He died from pancreatic cancer. He is remembered for his contributions to Galatasaray and Turkish sports.
