Playing Football: Álex's Journey
Álex García was born in Bilbao, a city in Biscay, Spain. He started his football journey at a young age. He became a professional player and played for many different teams throughout his career.
Starting Out: Early Career
Álex began his career with Racing de Santander. He first played for their reserve team, Racing B, in the 2004–05 season. Before that, he had a short loan period at a nearby club called Deportivo Rayo Cantabria.
On January 22, 2006, Álex made his big debut for Racing de Santander's main team. This was also his first game in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. He came into the game as a substitute during a match against Sevilla FC. Racing lost that game 2–3 at home. He left the club at the end of the 2005–06 season.
Moving Up: Playing in Different Leagues
In the summer of 2006, Álex returned to his home region, the Basque Country. He joined Athletic Bilbao, another famous Spanish club. However, he mostly played for their B-team, Bilbao Athletic, in the Segunda División B. This league is the third tier of Spanish football. He stayed there for one season, 2006–07.
After his time at Athletic Bilbao, Álex continued to play in the Segunda División B for several years. He played for teams like Villarreal CF B, Real Jaén, SD Eibar, and CF Badalona.
On July 2, 2012, Álex García signed with CD Guadalajara. This team played in the Segunda División, which is the second-highest league in Spain. He made his first appearance for Guadalajara on December 8, 2012, against CD Numancia. Álex scored his first goal in this league on April 7, 2013. His goal helped his team win 3–1 against Córdoba CF at home.
Later Career and Coaching
Álex continued his playing career with several other clubs. He played for Sestao from 2013 to 2014, and then for Mirandés from 2014 to 2016. He even had a short period at Tenerife in 2016–2017, which included a loan spell back at Mirandés.
He returned to Racing de Santander for the 2017–2018 season. From 2018 to 2020, he played for Cacereño. After finishing his playing career, Álex transitioned into coaching. Since 2020, he has been working as an assistant coach for Cacereño, the same club where he finished playing.
