Álvaro's Football Journey
Álvaro Mantilla was born in Maliaño, a town in Cantabria, Spain. He started playing football at a young age. In 2015, he joined the youth team of Racing de Santander. Before that, he played for Club Bansander.
Starting His Senior Career
After finishing his training, Álvaro was loaned to CD Laredo in 2019. This team played in the Tercera División, which is one of the lower football leagues in Spain. He made his first senior game appearance on September 14, 2019. His team won that game 3–0 against UD Sámano.
Álvaro scored his first goal as a senior player on July 18, 2020. His goal helped his team win 3–1 against CD Tropezón. This win was important because it helped CD Laredo reach the play-offs. They eventually earned promotion to a higher league, the Segunda División B, after 30 years.
Playing for Racing Santander
After his loan, Álvaro returned to Racing de Santander for the 2020–21 season. He became a regular player for their first team. On March 20, 2022, he signed a new contract to stay with the club until 2024.
Álvaro helped his team get promoted to the Segunda División, which is a higher professional league in Spain. He made his first professional game appearance in this league on September 11, 2022. Racing de Santander won that game 2–0 against Sporting de Gijón.
