Maliaño is a village located in the municipality of Camargo, in the region of Cantabria, Spain. It sits close to the Bay of Santander, about 5 kilometers (3 miles) from Santander, the main city of the region. Maliaño is also home to the important Santander Airport.
The village is split into two main areas: Alto Maliaño (High Maliaño) and Bajo Maliaño (Low Maliaño). In Alto Maliaño, you can find the Church of San Juan Bautista. This church holds the tomb of Juan de Herrera, a famous Spanish architect from the Renaissance period. In 2012, about 9,657 people lived in Maliaño.
