He played his first game in La Liga (Spain's top football league) on January 24, 2004. His team won 2–1 against Villarreal CF. He also played in the UEFA Champions League (a big European competition) on March 3, 2004. Real Madrid won that game 1–0 against FC Bayern Munich. In May, he signed a new contract with Real Madrid until 2010. He played in different defensive positions for the team.

He scored in his first league game for Murcia, helping them win 2–1 against Real Zaragoza. He played a lot during the 2007–08 season, but his team, Murcia, ended up moving down to a lower league.
