Årjäng Municipality (which in Swedish is Årjängs kommun) is a special area in Sweden. It is like a local government district. You can find it in Värmland County in west central Sweden. It even shares a border with Norway! The main town, or "seat," of this municipality is called Årjäng.

History of Årjäng Municipality
The area we now call Årjäng Municipality has grown over time. In 1941, a part of the area became its own local government called Årjäng. Before that, it was part of a place called Silbodal.
Later, in 1952, Årjäng and Silbodal joined together again. They kept the name Årjäng. More areas joined in 1971, including Sillerud and Holmedal. Then, in 1974, Töcksmark was added. This made the municipality the size it is today.
Towns and Villages
Årjäng Municipality has two main towns, which are called "localities" in Sweden. These are Årjäng and Töcksfors. These towns are where many people live and work.
Famous People from Årjäng
Some well-known Swedish athletes come from Årjäng Municipality. These include Per-Gunnar Andersson, who is a famous rally driver. Another is Thomas Wassberg, a very successful cross-country skier.
