Ömer İzgi (born on January 1, 1940) is a Turkish politician and lawyer. He served as the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey from 2000 to 2002. Before that, he was a Member of Parliament for the city of Konya. He held this position between 1999 and 2002 as a member of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

Early Life and Education
Ömer İzgi was born in Doğanhisar, a town in Konya, Turkey, on January 1, 1940. He went to Ankara University and studied law. He earned his law degree from the Faculty of Law. He also completed a master's degree in Civil Law at the same university.
After finishing his studies, İzgi worked as a chief expert at the Prime Ministry of Turkey. Later, he became a private lawyer, working for himself.
Political Journey
Ömer İzgi had a long career in Turkish politics. He was involved with a political party that changed its name a few times.
Starting in Politics
In 1983, İzgi helped start a political group called the Conservative Party. This party later changed its name to the Nationalist Labour Party in 1985. İzgi became an important leader in this new party, serving as its Deputy Secretary General.
In 1993, the party changed its name again to the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). Ömer İzgi continued to be a key figure. He led the MHP's branch in Ankara and also served as a Deputy Leader for the entire party.
Becoming Speaker of Parliament
In the 1999 general election, Ömer İzgi was elected to the Parliament. He represented the city of Konya. After being elected, he became the leader of the MHP's group in Parliament.
In 2000, İzgi was chosen to be the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly. This is a very important role, similar to the leader of a country's main law-making body. He served as Speaker until November 2002. At that time, his party did not get enough votes in the general election to keep their seats in Parliament.
