History of Örkelljunga
Örkelljunga has an interesting past. After a big change in how local areas were governed in 1862, Örkelljunga became part of a larger local government area. This area was known as Örkelljunga Landskommun.
Becoming a Municipality
For a while, from 1911 to 1952, the town of Örkelljunga had its own special community rules. However, these rules were later removed. Since 1971, Örkelljunga has been the central town of the larger Örkelljunga Municipality. This means it's where the local government offices are located.
Motorcycle Production
Did you know that Örkelljunga was once a place where motorcycles were made? Between 1928 and 1939, two different brands of motorcycles, called Eiber and Suecia, were produced right here in the town. This was an important part of the town's industrial history.
