Ľudovít Ódor (born 2 July 1976) is a Slovak economist and politician. He was the Prime Minister of Slovakia from May to October 2023. During this time, he led a special government made of experts, not regular politicians.
Before becoming Prime Minister, Ódor was the Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia from 2018 to 2023. He was also the first Prime Minister of Slovakia who came from the Hungarian minority living in Slovakia. In 2024, he was elected as a member of the European Parliament.

Early life and education
Ľudovít Ódor was born on 2 July 1976. His family was Hungarian, and they lived in a village called Veľké Kosihy, near Komárno.
He went to a Hungarian-language high school in his hometown. Later, he studied at Comenius University in Bratislava. In 1999, he earned a master's degree in mathematics and management. Besides his native Hungarian, he can speak Slovak and English very well.
Economic career (1999–2023)
After finishing university, Ódor started working as an analyst for a bank in 1999. In 2001, he moved to the Slovak Rating Agency. Two years later, he became the chief economist for the Ministry of Finance in Slovakia.
In 2006, he joined the board of the National Bank of Slovakia. He also gave advice to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister between 2010 and 2012. From 2015 to 2017, Ódor was a vice-chairman for a group in the European Union that looked at financial matters.
In February 2018, Ódor became the vice-governor of the National Bank of Slovakia. He helped start important financial groups like the Institute for Financial Policy. He also teaches as a visiting professor at the Central European University.
During his career, Ódor helped create a new tax system in Slovakia. This system made Slovakia more attractive to foreign businesses. He also helped change the pension system and worked on Slovakia joining the euro currency.
Becoming Prime Minister (2023)
In May 2023, the Prime Minister at the time, Eduard Heger, resigned. He asked the President to choose a government made of experts. President Zuzana Čaputová chose Ľudovít Ódor to lead this new government. He became Prime Minister on 15 May 2023.
For a few months, from July to October 2023, Ódor also took on the role of Minister of the Interior. This happened after the previous minister left his position.
A new election was held in Slovakia on 30 September 2023. After the election, a new government was formed by Robert Fico. Robert Fico then took over from Ódor as Prime Minister on 25 October 2023.

According to his website, Ódor believes in being practical. He thinks that decisions should be based on facts and evidence, especially when it comes to money and the economy.
