The 14th Government of Slovenia was a group of leaders who ran the country. It was formed after the previous Prime Minister, Marjan Šarec, stepped down in January 2020. Janez Janša from the Slovenian Democratic Party then put together a new team. This team included members from the Modern Centre Party, New Slovenia, and the Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia. This new government officially started on March 13, 2020. This happened right when the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning.

How the Government Was Formed
On January 27, 2020, Prime Minister Marjan Šarec resigned. This happened after his Finance Minister and Health Minister also stepped down. They had disagreements about new healthcare rules.
On February 25, 2020, President Borut Pahor talked with different political parties. The parties planning to form the new government agreed to work together. They signed an agreement on the same day.
The next day, February 26, President Pahor suggested Janez Janša to the National Assembly. He proposed Janša as the new candidate for Prime Minister.
On March 3, 2020, Janez Janša was chosen as Prime Minister. He received 52 votes. This meant some members from other parties, likely from the SNS, voted for him.
On March 6, 2020, the new Prime Minister, Janez Janša, suggested his list of ministers. These ministers had meetings from March 10 to March 13, 2020. The old government ministers worked with the new team. They shared information about the coronavirus outbreak. This kind of cooperation was new and had not happened before. Both groups even had a joint meeting on March 9, 2020. On March 12, 2020, the outgoing Health Minister declared an epidemic.
Finally, on March 13, 2020, the National Assembly approved the list of ministers. The new government officially began its work.
Meet the Cabinet Members
The cabinet includes the Prime Minister, ministers, and ministers without a specific department. Other important people also attend cabinet meetings. These include the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff and the Secretary-General of the Government. State secretaries can fill in for ministers if they are away. If the Prime Minister is absent, a minister, often a Deputy Prime Minister, takes their place. The cabinet usually makes decisions by everyone agreeing. However, they can also decide by a simple majority vote.
