The 1974 Atlantic hurricane season was a time when tropical storms and hurricanes formed in the Atlantic Ocean. It officially started on June 1, 1974, and ended on November 30, 1974. During this season, there were 11 storms in total. Seven of these storms were strong enough to be given names. Even though it had an average number of storms, it was one of the deadliest seasons ever recorded. This was mainly because of a very powerful storm called Hurricane Fifi. This season also had more "subtropical storms" than usual, with four of them forming.

The 1974 Atlantic hurricane season was a busy period for storms in the Atlantic Ocean. It officially began on June 1, 1974, and finished on November 30, 1974. During this time, 11 different storms formed. Seven of these storms grew strong enough to be given names.
Even though the number of storms was about average, this season was very sad because many people lost their lives. Most of these deaths were caused by a very strong storm named Hurricane Fifi. This season also had a special feature: it had the most "subtropical storms" ever recorded at that time, with four of them appearing.

Retired Storm Names
