1991 DFB-Supercup facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The 1991 DFB-Supercup was a special football tournament in Germany. It was the fifth time this cup was played. What made it unique was that four teams took part, not just two! This happened because German reunification had just happened in 1990. This meant teams from both West and East Germany could play together.

The four teams were:

  • 1. FC Kaiserslautern, who won the 1990-91 Bundesliga (the main West German league).
  • Werder Bremen, who won the 1990-91 DFB-Pokal (the main West German cup).
  • Hansa Rostock, who won both the 1990-91 NOFV-Oberliga (the main East German league) and the 1990-91 NOFV-Pokal (the main East German cup).
  • Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt, who were the runners-up in the 1990-91 NOFV-Pokal.

In the end, 1. FC Kaiserslautern won the DFB-Supercup. They beat Werder Bremen 3–1 in the final match, which was played in Hanover.
