The 1stBank Center was a large building in Broomfield, Colorado, used for many different events. It was also known as the Broomfield Event Center and Odeum Colorado. This arena was about 15 miles northwest of Downtown Denver. It was close to the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport and a shopping center called Flatiron Crossing Mall.

The 1stBank Center opened in 2006. A local bank, 1stBank, bought the rights to have its name on the building starting in 2010. The arena was mostly used for concerts that attracted a medium-sized crowd in the Denver area. It could hold up to 6,500 people. From 2010 to 2014, it was home to the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. For sports, it hosted the Denver Roller Dolls roller derby team. It was also once home to the Rocky Mountain Rage hockey team and the Colorado 14ers basketball team. The arena closed in 2023 and was taken down in 2024.

The Story of the 1stBank Center

Broomfield Event Center
Exterior of the arena being built in May 2009

In May 2005, the city of Broomfield announced plans for a new sports and event building. This new venue was a key part of a big new area with shops and homes called Arista Metropolitan District. The goal was for it to compete with other event places in Colorado. The designers wanted the arena to feel cozy, like a theater, even though it was big.

Building started in October 2005, but it had a rough beginning. There was a lawsuit about noise just six months later. Before it even opened, the people in charge changed. Despite these problems, the venue opened on November 9, 2006, with a concert by Bonnie Raitt.

However, the arena faced challenges. Many visitors complained about not enough parking and confusing signs. Others said the sound quality was not good. For its first two years, the venue did not make money. It struggled to pay its bills and staff.

The first company that ran the arena could not afford to keep it going. So, in 2009, the city looked for new managers. A company called Peak Entertainment took over in June 2009. This company was a partnership between two big sports and entertainment groups.

Under the new management, the arena got a big makeover. Over a million dollars was spent on improvements. This included new paint, better lighting, and much better sound. They also added more than 2,000 parking spaces. A special bridge was built to help people get to the arena from a bus stop. During these changes, the building was temporarily called Odeum Colorado.

In February 2010, it was announced that 1stBank bought the rights to name the arena. The agreement started on March 1, 2010. The arena reopened on March 5, 2010, with a concert by the band Furthur. After its reopening, the 1stBank Center hosted many popular concerts, family shows, and sports events.

On May 23, 2023, the city decided that the arena would close for good on November 30. It was then planned to be torn down. The main reason was that the arena never made a profit. The large area where it stood is now being redeveloped. The demolition of the building started in November 2024 and cost $3 million. By May 2025, the site was an empty dirt lot.

The very last event at the 1stBank Center was an episode of AEW Dynamite on September 27, 2023.
