The IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships is a major international competition for athletes who play ice hockey while sitting on sleds. It's a super exciting sport! In 2013, the 7th championship event happened in Goyang, South Korea. This was the very first time South Korea got to host this awesome tournament.

What is Sledge Hockey?

A Cool Winter Sport

Sledge hockey, also known as para ice hockey, is a thrilling team sport. It's played by athletes with physical disabilities. They sit on special sleds that have two hockey skate blades underneath. This allows them to glide across the ice.

Players use two short hockey sticks instead of one. Each stick has picks on one end. These picks help them push themselves along the ice. The other end of the stick is curved, just like a regular hockey stick, for shooting and passing the puck.

The rules of sledge hockey are very similar to regular ice hockey. Teams try to score goals by shooting a puck into the opponent's net. It's a fast-paced game that needs lots of skill and teamwork.
