The 2018 UK Championship was a big snooker tournament that happened from November 27 to December 9, 2018. It was one of the most important events in the snooker season. This tournament was the ninth "ranking" event, meaning players earned points towards their world ranking. It was also the first of the three "Triple Crown" events, which are the most famous and respected tournaments in snooker. People in the United Kingdom could watch it on BBC Sport and Eurosport.
Ronnie O'Sullivan, who was the champion from the year before, won the tournament again! He played against Mark Allen in the final match and won 10–6. This was Ronnie O'Sullivan's seventh UK Championship title. It was also his 34th win in a "ranking" event, which is a huge achievement. During the tournament, Stuart Bingham made the highest score in a single turn, called a "break," with 145 points. This happened in his match against David Gilbert.

How the Tournament Worked
The Main Competition Stages
The UK Championship is a knockout tournament. This means that if a player loses a match, they are out of the competition. Many players start, but only one can win!
The matches in the early rounds were "best of 11 frames." This means the first player to win 6 frames (games) won the match. As the tournament went on, the matches got longer.
Exciting Quarter-finals
The quarter-finals were the matches where only eight players were left.
- Ronnie O'Sullivan played against Martin O'Donnell and won easily, 6–1.
- Tom Ford beat Joe Perry with a score of 6–2.
- Stuart Bingham had a strong win against Kyren Wilson, 6–1.
- Mark Allen also won big, beating Stephen Maguire 6–1.
Intense Semi-finals
In the semi-finals, only four players remained.
- Ronnie O'Sullivan continued his amazing run, defeating Tom Ford 6–1.
- Mark Allen had a very close match against Stuart Bingham, winning 6–5. It was a tough fight!
The Grand Final Match
The final match was played between Ronnie O'Sullivan and Mark Allen. It was a "best of 19 frames" match, meaning the first player to win 10 frames would be the champion. The referee for this important match was Marcel Eckardt from Germany.
The final took place at the Barbican Centre in York, England, on December 9, 2018.
