NBA Finals
|
The 2019 NBA Finals was the championship series for the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s 2018–19 season. It was a "best-of-seven" series, meaning one team had to win four games to become the champion. The series started on May 30 and ended on June 13, after six games.
The Toronto Raptors won the championship, beating the Golden State Warriors. The Raptors won four games, and the Warriors won two. This was a huge moment because it was the first time the Raptors had ever won an NBA Final. It was also the first time a Canadian team won the NBA championship!
The Golden State Warriors had played in the NBA Finals for five years in a row, but this was their last time in this streak. For the Toronto Raptors, it was their very first time playing in the NBA Finals.

Victory Parade: A Huge Celebration
After winning the championship, the Toronto Raptors held a big celebration parade. It happened on June 17 in Toronto. The parade started at Princes' Gates and finished at Nathan Phillips Square, which is next to the Toronto City Hall.
More than two million people came to watch the parade! This made it the biggest public gathering in Canadian history. Because so many people were there, the parade moved very slowly and was delayed by three hours.
