888 Seventh Avenue is a very tall office building, called a skyscraper, in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was completed in 1969 and has 46 floors, reaching 628 feet (191 meters) into the sky.
This building was designed by the famous architects Emery Roth & Sons. It has a unique "L"-shape. This shape allows it to wrap around the nearby Rodin Studios building. The building is currently owned by Vornado Realty Trust. It used to be called the Arlen Building, named after the company that built it. You can also find the Red Eye Grill restaurant on the street level of the building.
Modern Updates
In 2006, the building got some cool updates. The main entrance area, called the lobby, was redone. The elevators and the outdoor plaza were also renovated. They used shiny white marble to make everything look new and modern.
The building's heating and cooling system (HVAC) was also greatly improved. These changes helped the building earn a gold certification from Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. This means it's a very energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building.
