9ice (pronounced "nice"), whose real name is Abolore Adegbola Akande, is a famous Nigerian singer, songwriter, and dancer. He was born on January 17, 1980. 9ice is well-known for singing in the Yoruba language and for his special way of telling stories and sharing wisdom through his songs.

Early Life and Dreams

9ice grew up in a big family in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria. He was one of nine children from a family with five wives. He spent his childhood in the Shomolu Bariga area of Lagos. From a young age, 9ice dreamed of becoming a musician. His parents saw his talent for singing and supported his dream to pursue music.

9ice's Music Journey

9ice started his music career early. In 1996, he recorded his first demo song called "Risi de Alagbaja." However, it wasn't until the year 2000 that he officially released his first solo song, "Little Money."

Rise to Fame with "Gongo Aso"

A big moment in 9ice's career came in 2008 when he released the hit song "Gongo Aso." This song quickly became very popular. Its success led to 9ice being invited to perform at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday Tribute concert in London in June 2008. That same year, he won the Best Hip Hop Artist of the Year award at the MTV Africa Music Awards.

The song "Gongo Aso" also brought him many more awards in 2009. At the Hip Hop World Awards in Abuja, he won four major awards: Album of the Year, Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Rap in Pop Album.

Recent Albums and Business

After a break from music, 9ice continued to release new songs. In 2020, he released an album called Tip of the Iceberg: Episode 1. He later released Tip of the Iceberg: Episode II in 2022.

Besides singing, 9ice is also a successful businessman. He is the founder and CEO of Alapomeji Entertainment Limited. He also owns his own record label, Alapomeji Ancestral Records, which helps other artists.
