The TELUS House Tower
TELUS House is the south tower of ATB Place. It was finished in 1971 and cost about C$22 million to build. For a while, it was the tallest building in Edmonton! It stands 134.4 metres (about 441 feet) tall and has 33 floors.
Vista 33 Observation Deck
For many years, the 33rd floor of TELUS House was home to "Vista 33." This was a museum about telephones and telecommunications. It also had an observation deck. From here, people could see amazing views of Edmonton. Vista 33 closed in 1993.
The ATB Place Tower
The ATB Place Tower is 90 metres (about 295 feet) tall and has 24 floors. It was completed in 1969. On the ground floor, you can find shops and businesses. You can also reach the Edmonton LRT (Light Rail Transit) system from the building's lower level through the Edmonton Pedway system, which is like an underground walkway.
McCauley Plaza
The area in the lower level of ATB Place used to be called McCauley Plaza. It was named after Edmonton's first mayor, and there was even a statue of him there. Later, this area was renamed TELUS Plaza. When the whole complex became ATB Place, the statue was moved.
Other Buildings at ATB Place
There's also a smaller, two-story building at the southeast corner of the complex. This building is called the ATB Place annex. It used to be a club and then an engineering office. Now, it's home to a career college.
History of the Site
Before the ATB Place buildings were constructed, this spot was home to the main branch of the Edmonton Public Library. The library stood there from 1923 until 1969.
