The Story of Telus
Telus Corporation began in 1990. The government of Alberta created it. This was to make Alberta Government Telephones (AGT) a private company. AGT provided phone service in most of Alberta. In 1995, Telus bought Edmonton Telephones (EdTel). This made Telus the only phone provider in Alberta. In 1996, Telus became the public name for both AGT and EdTel.
In 1998, Telus and BC Tel planned to merge. BC Tel was another big phone company. The new company was called BCT.Telus Communications Inc. It had its main office in Burnaby. The merger finished in 1999. In 2000, the company changed its name back to Telus Corporation. The BC Tel name was no longer used. This merger made Telus the second largest telecom company in Canada.
Telus also bought Québec Téléphone in 2000. This company served many rural areas in Quebec. This helped Telus grow even more.
In 2019, Telus bought the Canadian part of ADT Inc. This is a home security company. In 2022, Telus Communications bought two internet providers. These were Start.ca and Altima Telecom. This shows Telus keeps growing its services.
Telus's Main Company
Telus Communications Inc. (TCI) is the main part of Telus Corporation. Telus Corporation is a large group of companies. TCI is fully owned by Telus Corporation. This means TCI is a very important part of the bigger Telus family.
Working Together

The disagreement lasted for some time. Eventually, Telus and the union reached an agreement. They signed a new contract in November 2005. This ended the dispute.
