It stands 135.6 meters (445 feet) tall and has 34 floors.

History of the Telus Tower

Building a New Landmark

The Telus Tower, originally named CIL House, was built between 1960 and 1962. It was created for Canadian Industries Limited, a large company. The main architect was Gordon Bunshaft. He worked with local architects Greenspoon, Freedlander and Dunne to design this important building.

Montreal's Changing Financial Hub

In the 1960s, Montreal's main business area started to move. It shifted from St. James Street to a new area in midtown. The CIL House became a key part of this new financial center. The Bank of Montreal even opened a main branch there. This made the street, then called Dorchester Boulevard West, a very important place for banks and insurance companies in Canada.

New Names for a Famous Building

Later, Canadian Industries Limited moved its main offices to another province. The building then got a new name: Royal Trust Tower. This happened when Royal Trust moved its head office there. Today, the name Royal Trust Tower refers to a different building in Toronto.

Who Works in the Telus Tower Today?

The Telus Tower is a busy place with many different companies inside. It is home to the Montreal offices of Telus, a big telecommunications company. It also houses the main office for Telus Health Solutions.

Other companies with offices in the Telus Tower include Accenture, Roche, and Canada Life. You can also find Clyde & Co, Fairstone Financial, Inc., and a Bank of Montreal branch there.
