A Place of Our Own was a TV show all about child care. It helped adults learn how to be great parents. The show aired every day on PBS. It was made in Los Angeles by KCET.
The show had different hosts over the years. Debi Gutierrez was the first host. Later, Elizabeth Sanchez took over. There was also a Spanish version of the show called Los Niños en Su Casa. This version aired on PBS and the Spanish TV network V-me. Alina Rosario hosted Los Niños en Su Casa.
The show was made by KCET along with Sesame Workshop and 44 Blue Productions. Its main message was: "You are your child's first teacher." This means parents are the most important teachers for their kids.
Every Friday, the show had a "Week in Review" segment. This part looked back at the main topics from Monday to Thursday. Viewers could also send letters or emails to the hosts with their questions.
A Place of Our Own was a very successful show. It even won a special award called a Peabody Award in 2005. This award celebrates excellent and important stories in television.
DVD Releases
Between 2008 and 2009, you could buy A Place of Our Own on DVD. These DVDs were released by PBS Home Video. They helped parents learn more about different topics.
