Aaron Douglas is an American former professional basketball player. He showed great talent on the court from a young age. He played in high school, college, and even professionally in Australia.

High School Basketball Star

Aaron Douglas went to West Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina. He was an amazing basketball player there. In fact, he became the best scorer in his school's history!

Early Achievements

When he was a sophomore (usually around 10th grade), Aaron scored about 16 points in each game. This helped him get chosen for the all-city team. As a junior, he was even better. He led his city in scoring, averaging 21.1 points per game. This earned him his first all-state award.

Record-Breaking Game

In January 1977, Aaron set a new school record. He scored an incredible 38 points in one game against Conway High School. This was a huge achievement!

Senior Year Success

During his senior year, Aaron continued to shine. He averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds per game. He earned his second straight all-state selection. His team had a fantastic season, winning 22 games and losing only 3. After high school, he decided to play college basketball at Anderson Junior College.

Freshman Year Highlights

As a freshman, Aaron was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the Western Carolinas Junior College Conference (WCJCC) Tournament. He was also chosen for the all-WCJCC second-team. This showed he was one of the top players in the conference.

Sophomore Success

In his sophomore year, Aaron averaged 18 points per game. He helped his team, the Trojans, reach the National Junior College Tournament. He earned honorable mention All-American honors for junior colleges. He was also on the first-team all-WCJCC. Aaron was even picked to play in the Junior College All-American Game. In that game, he scored 10 points and made 12 assists.

Transfer to East Tennessee State

After two years at Anderson, Aaron transferred to East Tennessee State University. He played for the Buccaneers from 1980 to 1982.

New Position, Same Skill

Aaron was first recruited to play as a point guard. He led the team with 52 assists during the 1980–81 season. Later, he switched to the shooting guard position. This happened because a teammate, Troy Lee Mikell, was injured. Aaron became well-known for his great outside shooting. He studied physical education while in college. He finished his time at East Tennessee State after playing 55 games. He averaged 10.9 points, shot 49% from the field, 71% from the free-throw line, and grabbed 2.3 rebounds per game.

Professional Career in Australia

After college, Aaron Douglas played professional basketball. He joined the Hobart Devils in Australia. They were part of the National Basketball League (NBL).

He played for the Devils during the 1985 season. In 16 games, he averaged 24.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. This showed his continued talent on the professional stage.
