Music Career Highlights
1987–1992, 1999–2000: Guy Group Years
Aaron Hall's friend, Timmy Gatling, encouraged his singing talent. Timmy knew Teddy Riley, and the three decided to form the group Guy. The band even appeared in the 1991 movie, New Jack City.
Aaron Hall's unique singing style, which mixed traditional gospel with his own energetic sound, made him stand out. He once described his voice as using "heavy intonations and very little breathing."
After Guy first broke up, Aaron Hall signed with Silas Records. This was a record label connected to MCA Records. Aaron later reunited with his brother and Teddy Riley as Guy for a new album, Guy III (2000). This album featured a popular song called "Dancin'." Aaron also appeared as a musical guest on the TV show New York Undercover in 1994.
Solo Career
The Truth (1993)
Aaron Hall started his solo career after Guy's first breakup. In 1992, he worked with different music producers on his first solo album, The Truth. This album included popular songs like "Don't Be Afraid" and "I Miss You."
"I Miss You" became a huge hit, reaching number 2 on the R&B music charts. It also climbed to number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his biggest pop song. Over the years, he also created songs for movie soundtracks and worked with other artists.
Inside of You (1998)
In 1998, Aaron Hall released his second solo album, Inside of You. He saw this album as a fresh start in his career. It included songs that shared messages about the tough experiences he had faced in the music business.
The album featured other artists like Faith Evans and the hip-hop group Terror Squad. It had a very successful song called "All The Places (I Will Kiss You)." This song became a top 10 hit on Billboard's Top Hip Hop/R&B Songs chart and a top 30 song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Final Album (2005)
In the late 2000s, Aaron Hall left MCA and started his own independent label called "Artists Only International." He felt this new label gave him more freedom. He tried mixing different music styles like R&B, reggae, and hip-hop in his music.
He called this album "The Final Album," suggesting it would be his last. He even hinted that he might use a new stage name in the future.
