Albert Joseph Brown III (born June 4, 1968), known professionally as Al B. Sure!, is a talented American singer, songwriter, and music producer. He also works as a radio host. Al B. Sure! was born in Boston and grew up in Mount Vernon, New York. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he became very famous for his music style called new jack swing.

Al B. Sure!'s Early Life and Music Career
Starting His Music Journey
Al B. Sure!'s father, Albert Joseph Brown II, worked with nuclear medicine. His mother, Cassandra Brown, was an accountant. When Al B. Sure! was in Mount Vernon High School in New York, he was a star football player. He even turned down a sports scholarship to the University of Iowa to follow his dream of making music.
In 1987, a famous music producer named Quincy Jones chose Al B. Sure! as the first winner of the Sony Innovators Talent Search. This was a big start for him! He then worked with Quincy Jones on many projects. ..... This song was part of Jones's very successful album Back on the Block. On this track, Al B. Sure! sang with other music legends like Barry White, El DeBarge, and James Ingram.
His First Big Album
Al B. Sure!'s first album, In Effect Mode, came out in 1988. It was a huge hit, selling over three million copies! The album stayed at the top of the Billboard R&B music chart for seven weeks in a row.
This album included his hit song "Nite and Day". This song reached number one on the R&B chart and number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Another song from the album, "Off on Your Own (Girl)", also topped the R&B chart.
Al B. Sure! was nominated for many awards, including Grammy and American Music Award (AMA) nominations. He won an AMA for Best New R&B Artist. He also won a Soul Train Award for Best New Artist and several New York Music Awards.
Helping Other Artists
Al B. Sure! is not just a singer; he is also a talented writer and producer. He helped many other artists become famous. He introduced groups like Jodeci and young R&B singer Tevin Campbell to the music world. Tevin Campbell was also a protégé of Prince and Quincy Jones. Al B. Sure! also helped artists like Faith Evans, Dave Hollister, and Case get their start.
In 2009, Al B. Sure! signed with Hidden Beach Recordings. His first song with them was "I Love It (Papi Aye, Aye, Aye)". His album Honey, I'm Home was released on June 23, 2009.

Acting and TV Shows
In 1991, Al B. Sure! acted alongside Martin Lawrence in a TV show pilot called Private Times.
In 1993, he sang on the main song of David Bowie's album Black Tie White Noise. He even performed this song live with David Bowie on The Tonight Show that same year.
In 2000, Al B. Sure!'s company, ABS Entertainment, started a TV division. He was a co-executive producer for an HBO Comedy Special starring Jamie Foxx.
Radio Host and Community Work
Al B. Sure! also worked with the ABC Radio Network. He produced and hosted a romantic nighttime music show called The Secret Garden. This show featured a mix of music and celebrity guests.
He has also been involved in community work. He participated in the Bless the Children Foundation's celebrity auction. He was given the key to the city of Oakland by city council member Laurence E. Reid. This was to recognize his company's help in fixing up parts of the city. October 19 was even named Al B. Sure! Day in Oakland!
Al B. Sure! was a DJ on the Los Angeles radio station KHHT, where he played old-school hip hop and R&B. Today, he hosts a daily morning radio show on iHeart Radio.
Since July 2019, Al B. Sure! has been the host of Urban One's nationally broadcast evening radio show Love and R&B. This show plays quiet storm and slow jams. It is heard on many radio stations across the country.
Reality TV and Health Advocacy
In 2010, Al B. Sure! was one of 12 contestants on the TV One reality dating show The Ultimate Merger. This show was produced by Donald Trump and starred Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, whom Al B. Sure! had dated before.
In 2023, Al B. Sure! and Al Sharpton started a health organization called Health Equity in Transplantation. This group helps communities that don't always get enough support. They work to help with blood testing for early detection of organ rejection. Al B. Sure! is the Executive Chairman of this organization.
Al B. Sure! was also featured in the Peacock documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy. In this documentary, he spoke for the first time on camera about the death of Kim Porter and her relationship with Sean "Diddy" Combs.
Personal Life and Family
Al B. Sure! has three sons. His oldest son, Albert Joseph Brown IV, is known as Al B. Sure Jr. He appeared on the MTV show Rock the Cradle. His second son, Devin Brown, is a hip hop singer known as Devin LOUD.
In 1991, while dating Niki Haris, Al B. Sure! had a son named Quincy Brown with Kim Porter. Quincy was later adopted by Sean "Diddy" Combs. In that same year, Al B. Sure! co-wrote a song called "Forever My Lady" for Kim and his son. The group Jodeci performed this song, and Al B. Sure! helped produce it with Jodeci member DeVante Swing.
In 2022, it was shared that Al B. Sure! had been very sick with several illnesses, including kidney failure. He was in a coma for a time. He received a liver transplant and has been recovering well since 2023.
