Case Woodard, known simply as Case, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He is famous for his hit R&B songs from the 1990s and early 2000s.

Some of his biggest hits include "Touch Me, Tease Me", "Happily Ever After", and "Missing You". He also worked with famous artists like Ja Rule, Ginuwine, and Tyrese. His work earned him two nominations for the prestigious Grammy Award.

Music Career

Getting Started

Before becoming a solo artist, Case was part of an R&B group called 'Future'. He also worked behind the scenes, helping to write songs and singing backup vocals for stars like Usher and Christopher Williams.

His big break came when he was discovered by music producer Russell Simmons. Simmons liked his talent and signed him to the famous Def Jam Records label.

First Album and a Big Hit

In 1996, Case's career took off with the song "Touch Me, Tease Me". It featured the rapper Foxy Brown and R&B legend Mary J. Blige. The song was on the soundtrack for the movie The Nutty Professor and became a huge success. It reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, a chart that tracks the most popular songs in the country.

His first album, also called Case, came out in August 1996. It did well, reaching #7 on the R&B albums chart. However, Case later said he wished he had more creative control over the album.

More Success with 'Personal Conversation'

Case released his second album, Personal Conversation, in 1999. This album had two major hits. The first was "Happily Ever After", which climbed to #15 on the Hot 100 chart. The music video for this song featured a young Beyoncé before she became a global superstar.

The second hit was "Faded Pictures," a duet with the singer Joe. This song was also very popular, reaching #10 on the Hot 100. Thanks to these hits, the album Personal Conversation was certified gold, meaning it sold over 500,000 copies.

'Open Letter' and a #1 Song

In 2001, Case released his third album, Open Letter. This album featured his biggest hit ever, "Missing You". The song went to #1 on the R&B charts and #4 on the Hot 100. It remains his only number-one single.

That same year, he was featured on the hit song "Livin' It Up" by rapper Ja Rule. Both "Missing You" and "Livin' It Up" were so successful that they earned Case two Grammy Award nominations in 2002.

Songs in Movies

Many of Case's most popular songs were featured in major movies. This helped him reach an even wider audience.

  • "Touch Me, Tease Me" was in The Nutty Professor.
  • "Faded Pictures" was in Rush Hour.
  • "The Best Man I Can Be" was in The Best Man.
  • "Missing You" was in Nutty Professor II: The Klumps.

Later Albums and Music

After a break from music, Case returned in 2009 with his fourth album, The Rose Experience. He released it on his own record label.

He has continued to release new music over the years, including the albums Here, My Love (2010), Heaven's Door (2015), and Therapy (2018). He has also toured and worked with other artists, like Teddy Riley and Tank.
