Early Life and Family

They performed gospel music there. The family moved back to Charlotte when Cedric was a teenager. He went to Garinger High School.

Music Career

K-Ci started his music career with his younger brother, Joel, who is known as "JoJo." They also sang with their father. They formed a gospel group called "Little Cedric and the Hailey Singers." They released three gospel albums. Their first album, I'm Alright Now, came out in 1983. Their next two albums, Jesus Saves (1984) and God's Blessing (1985), were successful. They both appeared on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.

Joining Jodeci

Cedric and Joel's gospel singing led them to meet brothers Donald "DeVante Swing" DeGrate and Dalvin DeGrate. Together, they formed the R&B group Jodeci. K-Ci was the lead singer for Jodeci. The group released three very popular albums between 1991 and 1995. These albums sold millions of copies. In 1996, Jodeci took a break from making new music.

K-Ci & JoJo

Solo Work
