Abbottabad District is a district in the Hazara Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. It covers an area of about 1,969 square kilometers. The main city and capital of the district is Abbottabad. It shares borders with Mansehra to the north, Muzaffarabad to the east, Haripur to the west, and Rawalpindi to the south.

Why is it Called Abbottabad?
The district is named after Major James Abbott. He was the first deputy commissioner of Hazara. He served in this role from 1849 to 1853.
Who Lives in Abbottabad?
According to a census from 1981, most people in Abbottabad tehsil speak Hindko. This language is the first language for about 95% of the population. Other languages spoken include Punjabi and Urdu.

Abbottabad District has some important protected natural areas. These areas help to protect wildlife and nature.
Ayubia National Park
The Ayubia National Park was created in 1984. This park is a large area of over 3,312 hectares. It is known for its beautiful forests and wildlife.
Qalanderabad Game Reserve
The Qalanderabad game reserve was set up in 1980. This reserve covers an area of 8,940 hectares. It is a special place where animals are protected.
