Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Somali: Cabdiraxmaan Maxamed Cabdillaahi Cirro), also known as Irro, is a politician from Somaliland. He was born on April 24, 1956. Since December 12, 2024, he has been the 6th and current President of Somaliland.
Before becoming president, Abdirahman served as the Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives. He was the main candidate for the Waddani Party in the 2024 Somaliland presidential election. He won this election, which was a big surprise to many.

A Look at His Career
Early Life and Diplomacy
Abdirahman started his career working for a development agency in Somalia. In 1981, he began working for the country's foreign service. He was the first consul in the Somali Embassy in Moscow, which covered the whole Soviet Union.
In 1991, he became Somalia's acting Ambassador to the Soviet Union. In this role, he helped many Somali expatriates who had left Somalia because of the civil war. Later, in 1996, he moved to Finland to join his family. He then became a citizen of Finland.
Entering Politics
In 2005, Abdirahman was elected to represent the Justice and Welfare Party (UCID) in Sahil. This happened during the 2005 Somaliland parliamentary election. This election was important because it was the first multi-party parliamentary election in Somaliland since 1991.

Abdirahman ran for president multiple times.
2017 Presidential Election
In the 2017 Somaliland presidential election, Abdirahman was a candidate. The election took place on November 13, 2017. He received 41% of the votes. The winner was Muse Bihi Abdi from the Kulmiye party, who got 55% of the votes.
2024 Presidential Election
Abdirahman ran again in the 2024 Somaliland presidential election. This time, he was the candidate for the Waddani Party. He won the election with almost 64% of the votes. The previous president, Muse Bihi Abdi, received 35%. Abdirahman became president on December 12, 2024.
