Abdul Hameed (
- 1928 – 29 April 2011) was a famous writer from Pakistan. He wrote many stories, novels, and plays in the Urdu language. He is especially well-known for creating a very popular children's TV show called Ainak Wala Jin in 1993. This show was broadcast on Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) and was loved by many kids in the 1990s.

His Early Life and Education
Abdul Hameed was born in 1928 in a place called Amritsar, which was part of British India at the time. He finished his high school studies there. In 1947, when Pakistan became an independent country, he moved to Lahore. He continued his college education in Pakistan as a private student.
After his studies, he started working at Radio Pakistan in Lahore. He was an assistant script editor, helping to prepare scripts for radio shows. After working there for several years, he decided to become a full-time writer of fiction books.
Becoming a Famous Writer
Abdul Hameed's first collection of short stories was called Manzil Manzil. It became very popular and helped him become known as a romantic short story writer. Besides writing short stories and novels, he also wrote articles for national newspapers. He created many plays for both radio and television.
He was a very busy writer, creating more than 200 novels and 100 books, especially for children. When he was younger, he was inspired by the Progressive Writers' Movement, which was a group of writers who wanted to use their writing to bring about social change. He particularly admired the works of another writer named Krishan Chander.
Some of his most famous books include Urdu She'r Ki Dastan (a history of Urdu poetry), Urdu Nasr ki Dastan (a history of Urdu prose literature), Mirza Ghalib Lahore Mein, and Dastango Ashfaq Ahmad.
His Work for Children
One of his most loved creations was the TV drama Ainak Wala Jin. This show was a big hit with children in the 1990s because of its fun characters and exciting stories. He also wrote a fantasy series of 100 novels for children. This series was known as the Ambar Naag Maria series and made him even more popular among young readers.
His Awards
For his amazing contributions to literature, Abdul Hameed was honored with the Pride of Performance award by the Government of Pakistan. This is a very important award given to people who have done great things for their country.
His Passing
Abdul Hameed passed away on 29 April 2011, at the age of 83. He had been dealing with some health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, and kidney problems. Many other writers and journalists attended his funeral to pay their respects, showing how much he was admired.
