Abella de la Conca is a small town and municipality in Catalonia, Spain. It is also simply called Abella. In 2022, about 167 people lived there.
This town is located on the eastern side of the Tremp Basin. It includes the high valleys of the Abella River and the Rams River. The Rams River valley is nestled between the Boumort and Carreu mountains. A cool fact about Abella is that some of its houses are partly built right into the rock!
History of Abella de la Conca
The town of Abella de la Conca grew around its old castle. This castle was very important in the 11th century. It was built on top of a big rock, which allowed it to control the valley below. The castle was the main center of the area, known as its barony.
