Abigail Kofi Kim (born July 19, 1998) is a professional soccer player. She plays as a forward for Ankara BB Fomget in the Turkish Super League. Abi was born in Liberia but has played for the United States national teams up to the Under-23 level.

She played college soccer for the California Golden Bears. Later, she played for teams like LA Galaxy OC in the United States, Fiorentina in Italy, and Orlando Pride in the National Women's Soccer League.

Abi Kim's Early Life and School Soccer

Abi Kim was born in Monrovia, Liberia. She grew up with an adopted family in Vashon, Washington, USA. Abi went to Seattle Christian High School. She helped her school's soccer team win the state championship in 2015. That year, she scored 41 goals in 20 games. She was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) by the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association.

Abi also played club soccer for Pacific Northwest SC. Her team won the state championship in both 2013 and 2014. Besides soccer, Abi was a talented track and field athlete. She helped her school team win three state titles in a row.

Playing College Soccer for California Golden Bears

Abi Kim was chosen to play college soccer for the California Golden Bears. She was a starting player for all four years, from 2016 to 2019. In 2016, she was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. She played in all 21 of Cal's games that season.

In 2019, Abi became the captain of her team for her final year. She studied legal studies and was also recognized for her good grades in 2018. During the 2019 off-season, Abi joined LA Galaxy OC, a club in the UWS league. She played in three games and helped her team win the National Championship.

Abi Kim's Professional Club Career

Playing in Italy for Fiorentina

In 2020, Orlando Pride chose Abi Kim in the 2020 NWSL College Draft. She joined the team for pre-season training. However, all soccer activities stopped because of the coronavirus pandemic. After recovering from a knee injury, Abi decided to sign with Fiorentina in Italy in June. This team plays in Serie A, Italy's top women's league.

Because of travel rules, her signing was not official until October 17. She played her first game on November 1. It was a Coppa Italia match, and Fiorentina won 6–1. On December 13, she scored her first goal for the club. It was in a 1–1 league draw against Empoli. A few days later, she played in her first UEFA Women's Champions League game. Fiorentina won that game and moved on in the tournament.

Returning to Orlando Pride

After playing in Italy, Abi Kim came back to Orlando Pride for the 2021 season. She signed a two-year contract on March 2, 2021. She made her professional NWSL debut on April 10, 2021. This was in a Challenge Cup game against Racing Louisville. She came into the game as a substitute and scored a goal in the 88th minute. The game ended in a 2–2 tie.

On August 24, 2022, Abi left Orlando Pride. In two seasons, she played 21 games. She scored one goal and made two assists.

Playing for Bordeaux in France

In August 2023, Abi Kim signed a two-year contract. She joined Bordeaux, a French club that plays in the Division 1 Féminine league.

Moving to Ankara BB Fomget in Turkey

In September 2024, Abi moved to Turkey. She signed a deal with Ankara BB Fomget. She now plays for them in the Turkish Super League.

Abi Kim's International Career

Abi Kim has played for the United States national teams at different age levels. She has represented the Under-18, Under-20, and Under-23 teams.

In January 2018, Abi was part of the Under-20 team. They finished second in the 2018 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. They lost the final game to Mexico after a penalty shoot-out. In August 2018, Abi was also chosen for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup team. She played in three games as a substitute. The team did not make it out of their group.

In April 2019, Abi was called up to the Under-23 team. She played in two of three games at the La Manga U23 tournament. Abi's biological father is from Ghana. This means she could also play for the Ghana women's national team. In April 2024, the Ghana coach talked to her about possibly joining their team.
