Stanford Rivalry
California has a long-standing rivalry with nearby Stanford University. Both schools are in the San Francisco Bay Area. They compete in sports and academics. Athletic events between them are often called the "Big whatever", like the "Big Game" for football, "Big Spike" for volleyball, or "Big Splash" for water polo.
