Her Early Life
Abbey Forbes grew up in Mineola, New York. Her parents are from Jamaica. She is the oldest of three children. Her younger brother, Matthew, also plays tennis.
Her Tennis Journey
Junior Success
Abbey Forbes had a great start in junior tennis. In 2019, she won the Wimbledon girls' doubles title. She played with her partner, Savannah Broadus. They were one of four American teams to reach the finals that year.
Later in 2019, on August 10, Abbey and Alexa Noel won another big tournament. They won the USTA Girls 18s National Championships in doubles. This win gave them a special entry into the main part of the 2019 US Open tournament.
Abbey's highest ranking in junior tennis was No. 16 in the world. This was achieved on October 14, 2019.
College Tennis
After her junior career, Abbey went to college to play tennis. She started at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the fall of 2019. She played for the UCLA Bruins women's tennis team until 2022.
After graduating from UCLA, Abbey continued her studies. She joined the UNC Kenan–Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina. She also became part of the North Carolina Tar Heels tennis team. In her first year at North Carolina, in 2023, she helped her team win a national championship.
