His father, Abdus Sattar, was also a cabinet minister. This means his father held an important government job too.
Abu Hena studied a lot. He earned a law degree after his first university degree. He became a lawyer, also called an advocate. He worked at the Calcutta High Court, which is a major court in India.
His Work in Politics
Abu Hena had a long career in politics. He was chosen by the people to represent them. He was elected from the Lalgola area in West Bengal.
He won elections five times. He was elected in 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, and 2011. This shows he was very popular with the voters in his area.
In 2011, he became a minister. He was in charge of two important departments. He managed the Fisheries department, which deals with fish and fishing. He also oversaw Food Processing Industries and Horticulture. This involved preparing food and growing fruits and vegetables.
