Abu Hurairah (born around 603 CE, died in 681 CE), also known as Horayra, was a very important companion of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam. He is famous for telling the most hadiths (sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad) that are found in important Islamic books.

Who Was Abu Hurairah?
Abu Hurairah's real name was Abd al-Rahman ibn Sakhr Al-Dawsi. He came from a tribe called Daws in Yemen. He became a Muslim in the year 628 CE, which was about two years before Prophet Muhammad passed away.
He earned the nickname "Abu Hurairah" because he loved cats very much. "Abu Hurairah" means "father of a kitten" in Arabic. People say he often carried a small kitten with him.
His Time with Prophet Muhammad
After becoming Muslim, Abu Hurairah spent a lot of time with Prophet Muhammad. He was very dedicated to learning about Islam directly from the Prophet. He would often stay close to the Prophet, listening carefully to his teachings and watching his actions.
Because he spent so much time learning, Abu Hurairah was able to remember many of the Prophet's words and deeds. He had a very good memory, which helped him remember a lot of what he heard.
Why Are His Narrations Important?
Abu Hurairah is known for narrating the largest number of hadiths. Hadith are like stories or reports about what Prophet Muhammad said, did, or approved of. They are very important for Muslims because they help explain the Qur'an and guide Muslims on how to live their lives.
After Prophet Muhammad's death, Abu Hurairah shared these hadith with others. He taught many people, helping to spread the knowledge of Islam. His narrations are found in many important collections of hadith, like the Kutub al-Sittah, which are considered very reliable.
His Later Life
Abu Hurairah lived a simple life. He was known for his piety and his love for knowledge. He served as a governor for a short time in Bahrain during the time of the Rashidun Caliphate. He passed away in 681 CE and was buried in Medina, in a cemetery called Al-Baqi.
