Acácio Cordeiro Barreto, known simply as Acácio, is a Brazilian former professional football player. He played as a goalkeeper. Acácio is best known for his time playing for Vasco da Gama. He was born on January 20, 1959.

Acácio was born in Campos dos Goytacazes, a city in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. He started his professional football career in 1978. His first clubs were Americano and Serrano.
Playing for Vasco da Gama
Acácio joined Vasco da Gama in 1982. He played for this famous club for many years, until 1991. During his time with Vasco da Gama, he helped them win several important championships.
Major Wins with Vasco da Gama
- He won the Campeonato Carioca three times: in 1982, 1987, and 1988. This is a big state championship in Brazil.
- He also helped the team win the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 1989. This is the top national league in Brazil.
Playing in Portugal
After his successful time in Brazil, Acácio moved to Portugal. He played for two Portuguese clubs: Tirsense from 1991 to 1992 and Beira-Mar from 1992 to 1995. He then returned to Brazil to play for Madureira in 1995 before ending his playing career.
Playing for Brazil
Acácio also had the honor of playing for the Brazil national team. He played seven matches for his country in 1989. He was part of the Brazilian squad for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Although he was a substitute and did not play in any matches, being part of the World Cup team is a great achievement for any player.
Acácio as a Coach
After he stopped playing, Acácio became a football coach. He worked as an assistant coach for Ceará and Vasco da Gama. In 2011, he started his career as a head coach with Americano, the same club where he began as a player. He also coached Olaria for a short time. He returned to coach Americano again in 2012 and 2013. In 2018, he was a caretaker manager for Madureira.
