The Tabletop Wattle (scientific name: Acacia daviesii) is a special kind of shrub. It's also known as the tabletop wattle because of where it grows. This plant is part of the Acacia family and is found only in Victoria, Australia.

What Does It Look Like?

This shrub grows from its roots and can reach about 2.5 meters (that's about 8 feet) tall. It has stems that stand up straight and branches that hang down a bit.

Who Discovered It?

The Tabletop Wattle was first officially described by a botanist named Marisa Bartolome. She wrote about it in a science paper called A new, rare species of Acacia from north-eastern Victoria. This paper was published in a science magazine called Australian Systematic Botany in 2002.

Where Does It Grow?

This unique shrub is only found in a small part of central Victoria, Australia. You can spot it in just a few places southeast of Mansfield, especially near the Howqua River and Mount Timbertop. Sometimes, it grows very close together, forming thick groups of plants. The Tabletop Wattle often lives in dry, open forests where Eucalyptus trees are common.
