Acharagma roseanum is a special type of cactus. It is a succulent plant, which means it can store water in its leaves or stems. This cactus grows naturally in a small area of mountains in Mexico. You can find it in the southeastern parts of Coahuila and Nuevo León. It loves rocky hills made of limestone. It also grows in dry areas with tough shrubs, called xerophytic shrubland. Its name is sometimes spelled wrong as "Roseana".

This cactus is quite unique! Acharagma roseanum plants are usually small. They have soft bodies and often grow in groups. Over time, many of these cacti can form a cluster together.

How Big is This Cactus?

The main part of the plant, called the stem, can grow up to about 6 centimeters (2.4 inches) tall. It can be around 5 centimeters (2 inches) wide.

The spines on this cactus are a pretty white-yellow to gold color. They help protect the plant.

Where Does It Live?

This cactus is native to Mexico. It grows in the mountains of southeastern Coahuila and Nuevo León. It prefers rocky areas. You can find it on hills made of limestone. It also thrives in dry, shrubby lands. These areas are called xerophytic shrublands. Plants here are adapted to live with very little water.

Why is This Cactus Important?

Acharagma roseanum is listed as Vulnerable (VU) by the IUCN Red List. This means it faces a high risk of becoming extinct in the wild. Protecting its natural habitat is very important. This helps make sure these unique cacti can continue to grow for many years to come.
