Ada is a small community in Ottawa County, Kansas, United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's a special area counted by the census.
In 2020, about 86 people lived in Ada. You can find it about 12 miles west of Minneapolis.
History of Ada
Ottawa County was created in 1860. It became an organized county in 1866.
Ada got its own post office in 1872. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It finally closed down in 1998.
In 1888, a new train line opened. It was part of the Chicago, Kansas and Western Railroad. This line stretched for about 43 miles (69 km). It connected Manchester, Kansas in the east to Barnard in the west. Ada had its own train station, called a depot, on this line.
The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway took over this railroad in 1901. Later, in 1983, plans were made to close this train line.

Ada used to have its own high school. It was called Ada High School. The school's mascot was the Wildcat. However, Ada High School closed in 1965. This happened because of something called school unification. This is when smaller schools join together to form larger school districts.
