Adam Gregg (born April 26, 1983) is an American politician. He served as the 47th Lieutenant Governor of Iowa from 2019 to 2024. Before that, he was the acting lieutenant governor from 2017 to 2019. Gregg is a member of the Republican Party. He also worked as the Public Defender for Iowa from 2014 to 2017.

About Adam Gregg
Early Life and Education
Adam Gregg was born in Hawarden, Iowa, on April 26, 1983.
He went to Central College and graduated in 2006. There, he earned a degree in political science and history. From 2006 to 2009, he studied law at Drake University Law School. He graduated with high honors from law school.
Family Life
Adam Gregg is married to Cari Gregg, his high school sweetheart. They have two children together, named Jackson and Lauren.
His Career in Public Service
While in college, Adam Gregg gained experience by working with the United States Department of Defense and the United States Congress. He also interned with the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Later, while studying law, he helped with legal research for the Chief Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court, Mark Cady.
In 2014, Gregg ran for Attorney General of Iowa. He was the Republican candidate but lost the election to Tom Miller.
Later that year, Governor Terry Branstad chose Adam Gregg to be the Iowa State Public Defender. He started this job on December 8, 2014. As the Public Defender, he helped people who could not afford a lawyer.
Serving as Acting Lieutenant Governor (2017–2019)
When the previous lieutenant governor, Kim Reynolds, became governor, she needed someone to help her. Governor Reynolds appointed Adam Gregg as the acting lieutenant governor on May 25, 2017. In this role, he took on all the responsibilities of the lieutenant governor.
Becoming Lieutenant Governor (2019–2024)
For the 2018 election, Governor Reynolds chose Adam Gregg to run with her. They won the election. Adam Gregg was officially sworn in as the 47th Lieutenant Governor of Iowa on January 18, 2019.
He served as Lieutenant Governor until September 3, 2024. On that date, he resigned to become the president and chief executive officer of the Iowa Bankers Association. This new job involves leading a group that represents banks in Iowa.
