Adam Walker's Baseball Journey
Starting with the Minnesota Twins
Adam Walker was chosen by the Minnesota Twins in the third round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Twins and started his professional career. In his first year, he hit 14 home runs in just 58 games.
In 2013, playing for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, Adam hit 27 home runs. He also brought in 109 runs for his team, known as RBI. He continued to hit many home runs in the following years. For example, in 2015, he hit a career-high 31 home runs for the Chattanooga Lookouts. The Twins even added him to their main roster to protect him from being picked by other teams.
Moving Through Different Teams
After his time with the Twins, Adam moved to several different baseball organizations. He was picked up by the Milwaukee Brewers and then the Baltimore Orioles. Later, he joined the Atlanta Braves. He played in their minor league teams, like the Gwinnett Braves and Mississippi Braves.
He returned to the Baltimore Orioles organization for a short time. Then, he signed with the Cincinnati Reds and played for their Triple-A team, the Louisville Bats. These moves are common for baseball players as they try to find the best fit.
Playing Independent Baseball
In 2018, Adam played for the Kansas City T-Bones in an independent league. This means the team is not part of Major League Baseball. He then signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals.
Adam found great success with the Milwaukee Milkmen in the American Association, another independent league. In 2019, he played in 98 games for them. In 2020, he hit 22 home runs and helped the Milkmen win the league championship. He was even named the American Association Player of the Year!
He continued his amazing performance in 2021. Adam led the league with 33 home runs and 101 RBI. He won the American Association Player of the Year award for the second year in a row. This was a first in the league's history!
Playing in Japan
In December 2021, Adam Walker signed with the Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) in Japan. He made his debut in Japan in March 2022. In his first season, he played in 124 games. He hit 23 home runs and had 52 RBI for the Giants.
In 2023, he played 57 games for the Yomiuri Giants. In November 2023, Adam was traded to the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. He played 20 games for the Hawks in 2024. The Hawks announced in December 2024 that they would not offer him a contract for 2025, making him a free agent again.
