Adam Kenneth Compton Wood (born 13 March 1955) is a retired British diplomat. He served as the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 2011 to 2016.

Adam Wood's Early Life and Education
Adam Wood was born on March 13, 1955. He went to school at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe. Later, he studied at Oriel College, Oxford, and finished his studies in 1977.

From 2002 to 2005, Adam Wood was the British High Commissioner to Uganda. A High Commissioner is like an ambassador. They are the main representative of their country in another Commonwealth country.
After Uganda, he became the High Commissioner to Kenya. He served in Kenya from 2005 to 2008. These roles involved working closely with the governments of Uganda and Kenya.
Leading African Affairs
Before he retired from diplomatic service in 2010, Adam Wood held another big role. He was the Africa Director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This office manages Britain's relationships with other countries. In this role, he oversaw all of Britain's embassies in Africa.
