Adebayo Sikiru Osinowo (born November 28, 1955 – died June 15, 2020) was a Nigerian businessman and politician. Many people knew him as Pepper. He was a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Later, he became a Senator for Lagos East in Nigeria's National Assembly until he passed away.
Early Life
Adebayo Osinowo went to St. Augustin Primary School in Ijebu-Ode. He then attended Isonyin Grammar School in Isonyin. His father was Alhaji Rabiu Osinowo from Ijebu-Ode. His mother was Mariamo Taiwo Osinowo.
Career and Business
Osinowo started his career in 1977. He worked as a Land Officer for the Federal Ministry of Works in Lagos State. He held this position until 1979.
From 1986 to 2003, he was the managing director at NITAL International. He also led NIMCO International Co. Ltd from 1990 to 2003. During the same period, he was a managing director at Extreme Piling and Construction Company Ltd. He also managed NIMCO Dredging Company.
Political Journey
Osinowo began his political journey in Nigeria's Second Republic. He was a youth chairman for the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The state chairman at that time was Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Abiola.
Osinowo served four terms as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly. He won a seat to represent the Kosofe constituency. In the February 2019 election, he was chosen as a Senator. He represented the Lagos East Senatorial District in the Nigerian National Assembly. After this, he became the chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries.
Passing Away
Bayo Osinowo passed away on June 15, 2020. He was buried the same day at his home in Ijebu-Ode.
